Q-Tip Birthday Mix by Sophenom [LISTEN]
It's been six years since I contributed a mix to the Where Hip Hop Lives app, a side project from Power106. The mix was a celebration of one of my all-time favorite artists, Q-Tip, and I was beyond excited to have the opportunity to create it. Looking back, I can still remember the thrill of putting together the perfect tracklist and blending the beats together seamlessly.
As a Hip Hop DJ, I know there's an art to creating a great mix. It's not just about throwing together a bunch of popular songs - it's about telling a story and taking the listener on a journey. With my Q-Tip mix, I wanted to showcase the breadth of his talent and the impact he's had on the genre. From his early days with A Tribe Called Quest to his solo work and collaborations with other artists, Q-Tip has been an innovator and a trailblazer.
